A Patron of the Arts, Uraysha Ramrachia has made her name in various spheres of the entertainment industry. She began learning dance at the age of 4 under the Nateshwar Dance Company and has built a repertoire performing dance forms such as Kathak, Indian Folk, Contemporary, African Contemporary and IndoJazz for numerous dignitaries and international events. Further training includes working with exponents of the Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts, Jhalak Dikhlaja Winner and Bollywood choreographer Shampa Sonthalia and Shri Vaibhav Joshi of Mumbai, amongst others.
Apart from Dance, Uraysha is also a graduate of Anupam Kher’s prestigious acting school- Actor Prepares, based in Mumbai, which couples perfectly with her degrees in both Drama and Law. Her other endeavours include being proficient in Hindi, presenting for TV and radio, as well as being a stage actress, singer and model.
Previously, Uraysha has also held titles such as Miss Deccan Chargers and Miss India Mauritius. Under these banners, she has represented India, Mauritius and South Africa in various locations overseas, including Suriname, South America, where she was involved in photo shoots, print and ramp modelling for established international photographers.
Dance is a lifestyle for Uraysha, and she has dedicated her life to giving others a glimpse of the joy that dance can bring. Her own brand of choreography involves kathak/contemporary combinations, as well as a focus on Bollywood choreography of the 80’s/90’s. She can do the sexy sultry moves expected of the latest music hits, but don’t underestimate the fun factor of her typical ‘amchi mumbai tapori’ dance!
